Bored to be wild

Today has been both boring and fun at the same time. I know that doesn’t make sense but let me explain. After four days of having a ball, for most of the time at least, I came crashing back to earth with a bang today. The realization that I was once again on my own with my next visitors, my sister and brother in law, three long weeks away, and that I was going to be working long hours for the rest of the week made life feel a bit like the rat race again.

I didn’t sleep very well last night so I was shattered when I awoke at 8 am, half an hour before my alarm was due to go off. I couldn’t get back to sleep so decided to get up and toast some of that bread that Dom bought us yesterday. The bread was nice but other than porridge, toast is probably the most boring breakfast there is. I headed in to work early as I needed to make up time for my extended lunch yesterday and discovered that I needn’t have bothered as there was only one other person there. The work side is the fun bit though so I wasn’t too perturbed. It’s like I’ve fallen through the looking glass and ended up in a back to front world, a different dimension. It’s not only fun, it’s educational too. I feel like I’ve learned more in the few weeks I’ve been here than I ever did in school. I won’t explain further because I want to put my newfound knowledge into practice when I return home and waltz around pretending to be a genius.

Go and switch the kettle on because we’re going back to boring now. The first half of my lunch break was spent being confused and swearing at the shelves in Lidl. I still can’t find any spinach (Popeye would hate this place) and for a supermarket there was very little stock. It must’ve been a Lidl express or something. I got a few staples, some mince for bolognaise and left to grab a sandwich from the cheaper than chips shop up the road. I’m becoming somewhat of a regular there now. I got a sandwich that was so big the guy would’ve had to get the ingredients out of a bin to make any sort of profit. Maybe he did. The bread seemed pretty stale. I consumed my lunch in the park once more, as the weather was nice again today. I’m starting to worry that I won’t see snow during my time here now. If that didn’t bore you, check this out. The only photo I took today was of a tree, a bloody tree. It was big, don’t get me wrong, but it is still only a tree and being big is what they are all about.

It's almost as big as the Xmas tree in my house last year

The afternoon and early evening in work was fun again. The time goes pretty quick to be fair but getting home late is meddling with my cooking. That and having a shit electric cooker that has hobs that only works for two pans. Health and safety gone mad so it is. It was 8pm by the time I got home and as I have this blog to write and an assignment to hand in tomorrow, I reluctantly gave up on the idea of a spag bol and instead chucked a pizza in the oven. I’m not really a fan of pizza but I’ve had one a week since I’ve been here. Way more than I’m happy about. The third boring meal of the day, three ‘square’ meals if you like. I had much more exciting food during my time of living on a quid a day.

I won’t bore you any longer. You’ve endured enough for one day. I on the other hand, am off to do my homework. Bah!
