Mundane in the membrane, mundane in the brain

Mondays are made for dragging yourself out of bed and cursing the fact that you have a whole week of work ahead. Not for me today though. I don’t start until tomorrow and so I slept in late and gave my brain a chance to shake off the beers I had yesterday.

After the normal morning routine was completed I soon became bored. There was no one else around as the girls had started at their placements and so I had the run of the house. I’m not very good at being on my own though, I prefer someone to chat to. I like to think I’m quite like-able and can get on with everyone, but for some reason I find it hard to just get on with myself. If I met ‘me’ we’d probably have a ball but if I were to just start chatting to myself, it wouldn’t be long before the men in white coats came and hauled me off to some institution, tossed into solitary confinement and I’d be back to square one.

I read the news, checked my e-mails, looked at social media, went to the shops, had some lunch, wrote some cover letters, washed some dishes, read some crap on the internet, wrote some crap on the internet, blah, blah, blah………boring! The day was dragging and the only person I spoke to through the medium of ‘voice’ was the shopkeeper down the road, and she didn’t understand me. To make matters worse, the night out arranged by Lukas will be tomorrow and not tonight as originally thought, so I didn’t have that to look forward to anymore, and it meant I wouldn’t be playing football this week either. Double whammy.

I also discovered that Wednesday is a national holiday over here and so I have that day off too. Thankfully, I’ll be going to check out the national gallery as it’s free for that day only, and so I won’t be stuck in the house on my own all day going stir crazy again.

It’s not all doom and gloom though. The marvels of the modern world have enabled me to remain in contact with folks back home, and a good old Skype chat does wonders for my spirit when it gets a little lonely. I also finally get to start at VICE tomorrow so I’ll hopefully be well bad busy doing fun stuff for the foreseeable future. Up, up and away!
